Through drawings, paintings, performances and installations, which are in turn dreamlike, cosmic or disquieting, I shape my universe with questions concerning the visible and invisible border and the displacement of identity. I am interested in all barriers – concepts and forms – inherited or erected by our preconceived ideas. Through stagings that are childlike or inhabited by monsters, I create a poetic, political and critical escape, far from assigned normative identities.
The home, household objects, furniture, and clothes detach from their functionality and become dreamlike, light and at times unnerving. The symbol of stability and protection that the room represents becomes unstable and fragile, subject to constant transformation. In my work, the house or the room is not only a building or a living space, but also the symbol of boundaries on a smaller scale. These are spaces that reflect individual or social identity, psychological space and more. The idea of "home" was conceived within the limits of our perception. "Home" is everywhere and nowhere. I want to talk about these momentary identities through my projects. My performances and installations are metaphors for questioning the notion of the border with multiple dimensions: individual, social, emotional, spatial. The fragile, unstable, light materials that I use for my performance and installation remind us of the fragility and uncertainty of everyday life and all we believe and try to keep or fear to see disappearing. I want to talk about these momentary identities through my projects. The disquieting appearance is rooted in the confusion of everyday values, highlighting all the moments of existence that can mislead us about truths as well as lies. My drawings and paintings of the landscape and the plants are such an allegory, allowing me to express a feeling of concern and strangeness while reflecting my deep anxieties behind an appearance of calm and appeasement. They invite reverie where illusion meets reality. I create poetic spaces that subvert their own simplicity and seek to uncover the disquieting layers beneath the exterior of our daily lives. What really interests me is questioning the nature of these boundaries and observing the evolution of our perspectives and positions at every moment. This question can be observed from a social, political, but also psychological, philosophical, spiritual and poetic framework. Living according to a certain norm, a pattern, with particular boundaries, is both a reality and an illusion. These are things that change, that collapse and re-establish themselves perpetually, according to our needs, interests and relationships. Through my work, I would like to remind us of the fragility of our beliefs and of what we fear will disappear. I would also like to question our certainties and participate in readjusting our thinking about the world by seeing it more as something that is neither natural, nor necessary, nor fixed. I am interested in creating a poetry far from mawkishness, a questioning of what conceals our daily life. |
