Ordinary Mirages is a video installation that explores the quiet poetry embedded in everyday, automatic habits. Using motion capture, I recorded gestures that I repeat daily in my apartment: unconscious movements performed without thinking or questioning them. I also scanned the apartment itself in 3D, transforming this private space into a fragile digital environment. At first, only the garment I was wearing is visible in the video. Detached from the body, it floats in the void, endlessly repeating gestures that seem both intimate and anonymous. Little by little, these unconscious movements reveal the space around it. Like dust or particles suspended in the air, or stars in formation, the apartment appears through repetition, becoming less an architecture than a mirage produced by memory, habit, and movement. The work questions the invisible structures that shape our actions before we become aware of them. Everyday rituals, although intimate, are never purely personal: they are formed through social rhythms, cultural expectations, and shared ways of inhabiting space. Through motion capture and 3D scanning, Ordinary Mirages transforms the apartment into an unstable archive of gestures. It asks how the illusion of a stable home is produced through daily rituals. These rituals, both intimate and collective, connect us to one another while also shaping the boundaries of what can feel familiar, natural, and real.
