Ordinary Mirages
2025 Computer-generated video created from recordings of the artist’s daily movements and a 3D scan of her apartment « Can I doubt what I want to doubt? » from «On Certainty » by Ludwig Wittgenstein Mirages ordinaires is a video installation in which I explore the subtle poetry of our everyday, automatic habits. Using motion capture, I recorded gestures that I repeat daily in my apartment—unconscious movements performed without reflection or questioning, while the space itself was also captured through 3D scanning. In the video, only the clothing I was wearing floats in the void, endlessly repeating these mechanically executed gestures. Gradually, these unconscious habits reveal the space in which I live. Like particles suspended in the air or stars in the process of formation, these routines give rise to a fragile beauty -perceptible, then vanishing, like a mirage. Through this work, I seek to question how sociocultural illusions take shape, become embodied, and ultimately turn into realities that quietly shape our daily lives. These rituals, both intimate and collective, structure our behaviors and perceptions: they connect us as much as they confine us.
